Help with dvd player?

I have just bought a dvd player and it says it will play normal dvds in HD as long as I get a HDMI cable. I got one of these and it doesn't seem to make a differance. What am I doing wrong?

the DVD shud be HD not only the player.

make sure you have it connected by the hdmi cable only and not the scart also, if that doesnt work try refering to the manual to see if any settings need to be altered, also make sure it IS a hdmi cable your using and that you are using a hd tv and playing a hd dvd.

p.s

there aint that much difference if your playing it on a hd tv
