Anyone had luck publishing a book like Gossip Girl, or attempted teen literature?

I am a teen literature author. My first book is on page 144, 34,594 words. I am very intent on making it about 52,000 words. So I'm close. What kind of advice does someone have on publishing? I want it to become popular, (of course).

If you want fame, I suggest you try your luck in Hollywood. It is extremely RARE to become rich and popular by writing. But other than that, good luck to you. Hey, I heard Stephenie Meyer once said she googled about agents, and sent letters to publishers. Maybe you can do that.
