My family has a Linksys router, and wireless Internet through BellSouth and their high-speed modem. We have two laptops with wireless cards, but inevitably if one is on and the other tries to get on, somebody gets knocked offline. Why is this, and how can we fix it?
if no other awnsers fix.....
there could be an ip conflict if your have windows xp to fix you:
( ">" means then click)
click start>connect to>show all connection then right click on the one that says wireless>properties then tcp/ip 4 and make sure both the obtain automatically circles are clicked
for vista:
start>network right click properties> on the left manage network connections>right click on wireless>properties>tcp/ip 4 and make sure both obtain automatically are clicked.
You may have an IP conflict. To check this go to control panel> Network connections> right click on the wireless adapter> choose properties. Go to TCP/IP in the scroll box and highlight it. Then choose the properties box below. In the window that appears, make sure both radio buttons are set to automatic. Do this on the second computer as well. Restart both machines and you should be good to go.
