What classifies you as an alcoholic?

I think in the past both me and my husband have drank a little too much. We have a new baby so I am much more concerned about it now. I know why I would drink, I am very physically ill and I didn't get the proper care so I hurt all of the time and alcohol eased my pain. Now I'm getting good care. I am taking a slew of medicine to help my conditions. It now isn't necessary for me to drink because I'm starting to feel better. I've known my husband for two years and since then he has drank at least 2-4 beers a night. Sometimes he'll go for a night or two without drinking. I think that in the US we do take things a little far. In other countries they drink a glass of wine or a beer or two every night but I think my husband is at least a borderline alcoholic. On the weekends in one day he can easily drink 10 beers. I told him tonight that I would like to be able to drink on ocassion but if he keeps it up it is at least going to be eventually a problem. I also told him we aren't going to have more kids until he can prove that he isn't going to drink on the week days. This hurts him because he wants a ton of kids. What do you think? What classifies you as an alcoholic? He is young but I think it is getting a little out of control. I guess I should add this though; he doesn't drink and drive. He doesn't get abusive ever. When we first got together he would drink and get verbally abusive but that NEVER happens anymore because he is more confident with our relationship. The reason he did it before was because his sister is a pathalogical liar and a real B so he didn't trust women at all. He never does anything to hurt me now when he drinks. I just think drinking that much is a bad example and isn't good for your health.
