Do you think films are as good as they used to be ?

There are some great movies coming/have come out with amazing special effects etc. but with very little re-watching factor, there are not many movies that have come out in recent years that I feel the need to re-watch, I can however re-watch films like Superman 1 & 2, the original Star Wars trilogy and the Indiana Jones movies (all that I have probably seen tens of times before), why do you think this is, nostalga, memories or simply because the films were more realistic without the CGI etc. ?

No, definitely not. No plot. No themes. No characters. Just poor computer generated graphics - eg Phantom Menace...

i think we are, it just takes a long time to produce an amazing film, i think the time peirod you look over when you think of oldies is greater than the time peirod than you give for the recent films... i also think nostalga as a part to play... show some of the oldies that we love to kids who have never heard of em and they wouldnt be too impressed.

I think action movies have got better BUT i do think Musicals are just BAD nowerdays! The actors cannot sing for their lives!

I think the fault lies with the ridiculous pay that actors get these days. They don't seem to be the same calibre as years ago when actors acted because they loved it and not because of money...just like footballers!

you just have to dig through more dross to find the gems these days. There are more movies being made today than 20 years ago - I think the proportion of dross to gems has remained the same though.
