"introduction to the guest speaker" or "introduction of the guest speaker"? ?
my two language teachers actually disagreed with each other about what to place in our program invitation.... please help me out... i'm really confused
Using "introduction to the guest speaker" implies one is reading or hearing about this person in the third person, like an introduction in a book's foreword section. E.g., in a book of Emerson's Essays, one may read an "Introduction to Emerson."
However, an objective use of "introduction of the guest speaker" implies someone is announcing and prefacing the guest speaker with an introductory statement or speech, in the first- or second-person. A block of time for someone introducing the speaker would therefore use "of."
