Safe to drive a stick shift with kids.?

I know this might sound like a dumb question, but my husband and I are going to buy a car and it is going to be a family car for when we have children. I have only driven an automatic car all my life so I will have to learn (Don't worry we don't have kids yet so I have time to learn), but is it hard to have to focus on another thing with switching gears and having potentially numerous crying children in the car.

Stick shifts will become natural too you in time. It will become instinctual for you. You'll know what gears to shift to, what to do when you hit a patch of ice, and when you have noisy kids.

You will be fine. My single mother raised my sister and I and drove a 5 speed saturn Sl2 the entire time. It's no big deal. You'll come to be used to it- along with the better acceleration and gas mileage that comes with a manual transmission.

    Yes.

It's safe to drive a stick shift with kids as long as you get to work the accelerator.

Maybe have one kid on the steering wheel, one on the gearstick, and one crouched on the floor working the brake and clutch.

Long as you've got your foot covering the gas pedal - YOU'RE THE DADDY.

Not really I have 2 kids age 19 and 20 and they both survived riding in a straight stick. After you get used to it, Its no different from driving a automatic. Just be careful of stopping on hills. You can roll backwards down the hill trying to start forwards again. It will just take time and practice. Hope this helps. Best of Luck 2U.

Yep perfectly safe. Driving a stick is easy and you'll get the hang of it in no time. You won't even realize you're shifting gears as you're yelling at you're kids to shut up.
