With the introduction of the new diplomas for 16yr olds, is this new scheme a white

elephant? ? Not all teachers are trained for this new magic wand boggit and scarper fix from our govt. do you think its just a waste of time and money or does this scheme have any worth?

The reason for it's introduction is laudable. No-one can deny that there is whole swathe of kids ( usually boys) left to drift through a curriculum that is of no interest to them. A practical skills/vocational route will be the making of many many kids and will hopefully improve their self esteem in realising not being academic is not the same a not being worth something.

However, If teachers are not trained or under resourced what on earth is the point? Although if they are going down a more vocational route would it mean the introduction of more non- teaching staff( such as plumbers/ joiners etc...) The education system may become like it was during the war were retired professionals teach!

The idea on it's own is not enough it needs training and money. Same old same old...........

I'm sure the whole point of the exercise is to baffle potential employers.

How many times over the last forty years have they changed the name or produced something else that has the same value.
