Engine knock on Kia Optima 04?

Hi. I have a Kia Optima 04 2.4 manual, and over 100k. It runs perfectly untill engine started knocking little bit and recently it's getting louder and worse, I have to use premium gas to avoid knocks, but I wish to fix it. Anyone could tell me what should I do? is it timing???

is Engine dying slowly? appreciate all helps and concerns.


My spark plugs are premuim Bosch and sparked about 20k. changed timing belt 30k before and change oil and oil filter on TIME.

Don't use the wrong octane gas, that may cause the knock.

You need to locate the source of the noise and go from there.

have a computer scan done on it and see if it shows up as having a bad spark knock sensor on it that will cause it to do that real bad,and using high test gas will only hide the problem sometimes,other than that i would recheck my plugs sometimes the gap will burn up and get wider and cause it not to burn the gas good and that will cause it to spark knock,good luck.

Try replacing the O2 sensor.
