Why wont my ipod connect to the internet even though it says im connected

with Wi-Fi!? I just got an Ipod touch for my birthday and i put the Wi-Fi password in and i think i should be able to do the things on the internet but whenever i try it just says "Safari cant open the page because it cant find the server'. It says alot of things like that and I dont know what to do!!! HELP!!

i think you use itunes to get onto the internet to buy songs and stuff. sometimes itunes is down for matenence and it cannot connect to the internet.sometimes it helps to restart your computer. also, sometimes it looks like wi-fi is connected when its really not. make sure it really is, and also make sure you are in a place that gets a good signal.
