97 Buick Lesabre..security light comes on...won't Start?

I have a 97 Buick Lesabre and have been having a issue with the security light coming on for a few months now. When I try to start the car the light would come on and I would have to wait 3 minutes and the light would go off and then it would start. Today it would not start once the light went off...at one point I read the manual and it told me to pump the gas if the car didn't start...so I did that and it started once the security light went off.....after that I turned car off and tried again and it didn't start...I'm assuming its the security light that's the problem. Could anyone let me know if there is anything I can do to turn this security stuff off so I can know that I don't need to take it in if there is something really wrong with my car...Thanks
