Verizon text message delays?

I have a verizon cell phone and my friend had T-Mobile and when he sends a text i sometimes wont get it for 30 minutes-5 hours

Why is this? We both have service! What should I do?

I've had the EXACT same problem. I'm pretty sure the delay is because the phones ae on different plans, and there is alotof texting going on now with the holidays, so it is hard for the phone companies to process all of the texts. There's not much you can do about it, i just had to be patient.
