How do you know if your iphone battery is defective..?

My phone lasts about less than 12 hours of intermittent use. I charge it at 8 am, and its going dead by 8pm. All of the setting are turned off (3g and what not). When i watch a video i can see the bar drop drastically after. It feels like i cant even use this Fcking thing because it drains the battery so fast.

How do you know if it is bad, or if that is just how lame it is.
How long are they supposed to go for on a single charge.

BTW i dont want you to copy and paste the Talk Times from the apple website. How long does YOUR iphone last.

If your phone doesn't hold a full charge or discharges quickly or it doesn't charge at all it is defective

The company will tell you to allow your phone to go completely dead and then charge it for a full 24 hours if it still doesn't charge then get a new battery

The best thing for your phone is every month or two do the free up grades on the phone SOFTWARE. This can be done with you phone on your own or you can have your provider do it for you at their stores
