Is it the internet we have to blame?

Lack of human socialisation? real life dating? letter righting? Spawning of thousands of pc nerds ,hiding behind closed doors, no exercise,no speech, getting overweight?

Was life better before it came along?

I don't think being a nerd is negative but with the other stuff you might have a point!

In some ways, and it is letter writing, not this: letter righting? Also contributing to it are cell phones and rude behavior due to that

ha, that is funny you would think so. I think what is really to blame is fast food, sodas and all the junk food kids eat these days. Computers are just a very small part of that. You have TV, video games, cell phones and hand held games just to name a few other things that all cause less interaction, but I still don't think that's the problems. On the Internet you can actually become very sociable and many many people make a good living because of the computer. I think in America we have allowed ourselves to become lazy and that is the true shame of it.

Yes it can be, and no it cant. It all depends on the person and how long and how much time they spend on the computer, and what they do on it.

it wasnt better before. back then nerds and losers were just hanging out at home. internet did not make people antisocial. they were that way before. now they are just a little less bored, and a little more fat. but tv, video games, and all that unmotivate and make you fat too. bottom line: you cant blame an object, only the human using the object

Generally, nerds are a good thing, they are the ones that tend to go on to be scientists etc, improving our world (for the most part).... I mean how many little Hoodie brats that don't use computers and like to hang around Mcdonalds do you think will make it big in the outside world (winning Big Brother doesn't count)

But I do agree that hiding behind closed doors and lots of internet dating are problems, along with no exercise, and the countless hours spent playing World of Warcraft

And to Angelique (and just_another_user)...... I am guessing that the Questioner meant to mispell "righting". I think it was irony, or something like that

yes and no. some people have no will power.
lazy people. its not the computers that make them lazy, it's that they
    take advantage of it.

If the internet was not here for you to ask this question, then you would be one of them people who stands on the road side with a placard with your questions on it, and if your question was not liked by onlookers then you could be prone to physical assault, but via the internet, know one knows the real person (you for-instance) so you can say or ask anything you like without fear or retribution on your persons.

    " letter righting? "

Why are you having a go at the internet for people not writing letters when you can't even spell "writing" ?

The internet is a tool for people to use how they wish, it is up to people what they do with it and people are ultimately responsible for everything you're talking about.

Life wasn't better before it came along... It was different.
