1st: do all service providers do a credit check?

& here's what happened this morning:
me and my mom went to a bell store to get me my own cell phone. we were almost done there until the employee was directed to call bell service or something.. basically, we were told that we had to make a $500 deposit for 6 months. because my mom didn't pay some bills on time so i guess her thing went up.
i'm 15 and i'm guessing i'm too young to get a phone without my mom. :|
(canadian laws?)
it made sense after the worker explained why we had to deposit $500, but we're not exactly that rich.
now i'm stuck thinking i can't get my own phone 'til i'm older..
i'm tired of waiting. :/
is there a way around this?
any other way? please help.

Either a pre-paid plan such as Tracfone or Boost, where you buy your minutes in advance on a card, or - much better bet if it's available in your area - Metro PCS.

In the US it's $40 a month in advance, unlimited minutes, no contracts, not credit checks.. But... you have to buy the phone - no free phones when you sign up.
