How do I unlock my sony walkman w580i?

I have a sony walkman w580i and I have no idea how, but it seems to have become "locked" without my knowledge. I do not know the password because I never set one up. How can I unlock my phone? The bozos at the ATT store told me I had to buy a new phone and the support people told me I needed a new SIM card, but I'm sure there has to be another way to solve this problem... right? Thanks to anyone that can help!!

I had the same problem. First, check to see if the last 4 digits of your phone number is the password (that's usually what it is). If not, call AT&T customer care and ask them to reset your password.
