Slim PS2 has problems running discs?

When I run my Slim PS2, some discs won't work, Any DVD (the kind that have movies or television shows on them) won't work on them either. Only some PS2 games and music cds will work on it.

Do I need to call Sony and send it to be fixed? If so, how?

If it helps, the PS2 slim model is SCPH-75001.

try cleaning your laser with canned air, if that doesnt work, clean the lens with a lint free cloth, the kind used for cleaning eye glasses, if that dont work, then the laser may be bad, time to RMA

It might only be a mere lens problem, try cleaning the lens, take a q-tip, put some alcohol on it, and clean lens gently in circular motion. If you see no changes call Sony (if you don't know their number find it on their website). They'll give you directions where to send your console for repair, if your warranty has expired you'll have to pay around $50 for repair.
