Is it possible to get a virus from downloading Firefox when I have Internet explorer?

My internet explorer use to freeze and say not responding and I'd have to click that "don't send" thing. But I downloaded Firefox and maybe a couple weeks after it's been doing that thing more often. But I don't know if it's from firefox or not. Help me out please...
 
It's not Firefox. You obviously have some sort of spyware/malware/virus on your computer.

Run a virus scan with your anti-virus program.

Install and run each of the following and delete everything they find:

http://lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php
