Does this poem about US politics make sense to you?

(Disclaimer: this is not about any entire political group in particular... just about people who blindly follow leaders who have led this country astray...)

Fear runs deep in the veins of the living;
It acts as strings on a marionette.
We stand so boldly for virtues,
as we see them glowing on screens
or described on pages,
But we sacrifice our own in the name of Fear.

When will we stand strong again,
but now against our real enemies?
Those who infect our hearts and minds with terror...
Those who make us dread our vulnerability, only to bolster their own power...
Those who hold hatred next to their hearts but call it morality...
Those who pass judgment in the name of religon,
yet claim to follow a leader who was most accepting of all?

Is there any hope that more than half of this nation will break free from their chains of fear and reclaim their independence?

I live in England and the sentiments you have written of here apply to the Labour Party of the UK too. They say they are doing everything for our safety and to fight terrorism yet their own town halls now use the anti-terror laws to snoop on people littering and putting the 'wrong' kind of rubbish in their waste bins.
They put up the greatest concentration of surveillance cameras in the world in the name of security and it is now routinely used to monitor everybody. They have set up a DNA database on which are the details of over half a million people (including children) who have never been arrested or tried for any crime.

Whilst not particularly holding a candle for the more extreme factions of the right wing, I notice that the more left wing the organisation, the more information and control over people's lives are deemed necessary and all in the name of the greater good. Animal Farm is alive and well.

I actually think that abolishing politicians would go a long way towards combatting global warming by removing a lot of the hot air produced in Senate and Parliament.

When mankind arises out of his fear, his darkness, his well of ignorance, when together they come as one, when minds awakened, hearken to a beckoning, then comes the reckoning, a dawn of an era anew, for christian souls, and godly hearts will be as one, of a rising sun..

Its very good well done ... whilst the new upcoming generation have vision, harbour a dream for a perfect world, arent indoctrinated by hatemongers and profiteers, when they awaken and the awakening in kind inspires the great Feather then humanity will be released, freed, unshackled from earthly woes and cares ...
