Cant connect to internet using wifi, please help?

I am not at all a computer person when it comes to tech issues. I have a laptop with a wireless card. Signal strength is excellent but cannot seem to connect to the internet. I am able to connect elsewhere (Starbucks, restaurants, apartment office, etc.), but not in my apartment. I live at the very end of my apartment complex and am not be getting a strong signal even though my connection says that it is excellent. It’s strange that I can connect everywhere else except my apartment. Any suggestions on how I can trouble shoot this???

you have to pay for internet that signal your picking up is someone else in the complex and they have it secured so that people can't use it. Even if they didn't have it secured it is still illegal to use without their permission. Those other places have the internet there for their costumers, well i assume they all do starbucks is the only one that would for sure the others just might not have secured their wireless.

No, troubleshooting wireless is very expensive and technical. Requires serious gear to do any 'reliable and provable' concerns.

Your better off simply moving the laptop to a spot that it's happy with. Keep in mind this 'spot' can move, alter shape, even disappear all together, so you may have to move around.

You can also add wireless access points to your network to improve coverage.

Remember signal strength is a gross meter. It may tell you its strong, even tho that signal may be delayed over a second. Your network will hate those kind of delays, but your signal strength meter will not know the difference.

If the apartment provides the wifi, then talk to them about improving your signal.

It may not be your computer, contact your internet provider.
