I've just bought a Nokia N80 internet edition off ebay, it comes with a vodafone PAYG SIM card but I want to keep my o2 one. I seem to recall putting an o2 SIM into a vodafone handset a few years back. Is this still possible or have times changed and this is no longer the case?

Unlikely. Most phones are looked these days. Try the sim to see what happens. If it won't work get the phone unlocked. Sometimes you can purchase the unlock code from the internet or get it unlocked by an independent phone store or market stall.

If the Nokia N80 is unlocked to other networks your O2 sim will work in it otherwise you'll have to get in unlocked. Any mobile phone shop should be able to unlock it for a small charge.

No your o2 sim wont work in your Nokia n80 IE mobile until you unlock it from vodafone network .You can easily unlock your phone using sites like OnlineGSMUnlock.com they are rendering network unlock code for all mobile models at reliable cost .After unlocking it you can freely use it with any GSM sim ...
