Hi,
I have a contract phone with O2 but the phone broke so my mums friend gave me her old iphone. She is also on O2 so I thought it wouldn't be a problem to swap the sims. When I put my O2 sim card into the iphone it says emergency calls only. Why is this? Does this mean that my sim will not work in the iphone?

The iPhone does not work like other GSM phones. It does require a new SIM and activation thru iTunes to get it working.

It sounds like your iPhone is locked to O2.. you can resolve this using remote unlocking method.. You can get this service from any third party like Unlocking4U.com
