not sure what ur talking about but i do knw the us army has made a non lethal ray gun. it use's mircro waves(i thnk) but its about 8 feet wide and 5 ft tall.
No, there is no such thing. The military as well as many law enforcement agencies would love to have one, but it's only a concept at this point. The problem is in the power supply. While it only takes a small battery to make a laser light, it requires considerably more power to make that same laser light do some physical damage. In order to make that light powerful enough to make a hole in a human being would require a power supply the size of a car. That would make it rather inconvenient to carry around. Taking it a step farther, to make a hole in a steel plate (like James Bond does with his watch laser) would require a power supply the size of a semi truck. Have fun carrying that around.
How an electrolaser works:
A very brief but high energy pulse, perhaps from a strobed ruby, Nd-Yag or Nd-glass laser which is simply of sufficient power to create the bloom effect on atmospheric gases - however briefly - creates a channel of ionized air from the weapon to the target. This is instantly followed by a high voltage discharge through that channel into the target. Think of it as a highly directional arc.
All the laser does is pre-ionize the air to create a conductive path for the electricity. It's the subsequent electric arc which does the damage.
