I want to know what (handheld) microphones will connect to my laptop because I want to start recording songs on my laptop.

I don't mean the computer microphones like the one's used to chat (http://www.acme.eu/items/images/bdeabb5c81Microphone_200 pcs.jpg). I mean the handheld microphones that are used in recording studios (http://www.lakewoodconferences.com/direct/dbimage/50229187/Microphone.jpg)

OR....

Do I need to get a special device in order for a handheld mic. to work on my laptop?

I am a first time computer recorder, so if you have any advice, I would highly appreciate it. Ex: what's a good recording software, what's a good mic.
