what is the meaning of extended routes

when u go to DVLA website to know infor about UK practical driving thest u can see test centre routes where the examiners take canditates but there is also a route call extended route wondering what does that mean and what sort of test applicant has to do their test on that route.

Routes that take you the longest way round! and if the instructor is'nt a hundred per cent sure of the L-driver, he'll make him go the longest route, to make sure he knows what he's doing ( the L-driver, that is )
