How do pc games look hooked up to a 720p HDTV versus a console?

I want to know if I should even consider playing games from a PC on a 720p hdtv. Will they look as good as PS3 games do at 720p? For this comparison assume the game is the same and at the same resolution on the PS3 and a fully capable PC.

Basically, if I played COD4 on a PC on a 720p hdtv at 720p, would I be able to tell it apart from COD4 played on a PS3 on the same tv and same resolution?
 
depending on you computer it might actually look a tad better considering it might have better graphics card/processor etc than what the ps3 has. so therefore even if its at the same resolution it will end up looking better. also most 720p tvs are like 1366 x 768 or w/e which is slightly better than 720p and u can set up w/e res u want on ur computer - just need dvi to hdmi cord or dvi to dvi or w/e ur graphics card to the input of the tv
