My neighboors are so loud with their music and i've complained but my property managers want proof. You can hear their music in the hallway which is a public access area. If I just walk in the hallway with my digital camera and record how loud their music is is that considered illegal? I'm not wiretapping or recording their conversations just walking in my hallway and recording with my camera to show how loud their music is. What does everyone think? Is this illegal?

It is not illegal to record anything in a public place.

However, you need sophisticated audio equipment to show the exact decibel level.
