...player on top of it? i was thinking about placing the player on top of my 360 in between the vents.

Not a fantastic idea, since everyone knows 360s have a tendency to overheat. Even if the vents are a little bit open, you want to give that thing as much ventilation as possible.

if the 360 is horizontal, you should be fine stacking the HD DVD drive
Just DON'T block the vents!!!
