I want to buy a phone from my local Orange phone shop.

What I want to know is, will my current T-mobile sim card work in that phone or will I have to get the phone unlocked?

Thanks.
Eleryth I was not sure either if Orange sell phones for its own network.

My current phone is a Nokia that I got as an upgrade from T-mobile and it has T-mobile printed on the phone. Only T-mobile sim cards work in that phone.

If I bought the phone from this Orange shop, would it only be available to Orange sim cards or do Orange make phones in general for all companies?

You will have to get it unlocked but be careful as some service providers make unlocking impossible on their phones.

I dont know if Orange is one of them, I had a Nokia 6280 on o2 and I took it to tons of places to get it unlocked to no avail!

hi,
you will have to gt the mobile phone unlock for you to be able to use any sim card other than orange! what mobile have you got? most mobiles only cost about 10 pounds to get unlocked

You need to get the phone unlocked.Whats your Nokia model .Because the phone is made for T mobile network, your T-Mobile sim card doesn't work in it yet. unlocking the phone you will be able to use that phone with a different service provider. This is easier said than done though. You can also search the internet.Unlocking the phone will accept the SIM card of any GSM carrier. what you have to do is have to get unlock code. The unlock code varies from individual handset to handset.. you can unlock your phone instantly with a few minutes. This site offers unlock code at cheap cost & very good in services...
