I have yahoo messenger and explorer most of the time running and it seems fine but when I take it off the A/C adapter the screen itself goes black. I can still hear music playing through my headphones but the screen is just at a black screen, its on just black. I've cleaned out PC's but I've never cleaned out a laptop, would dust be a problem? I've only been cleaning the keyboard once or twice a month. I also have registry cleaners and its made my system faster noticably but once it comes off the A/C it goes black. I reverted back to the original video driver, nothing helped there. I use this for school so I cannot do a complete reinstall with the manufacture DVD because of all the files on here. Any suggestions?

Laptops have 2 modes one for AC power on for battery

when on battery power the screen should dim to save power

the problem with yours is probably related to this either a power setting is wrong look in the control panel in display

or press the fn key (its on the left at the bottom) plus one of the function keys it will have an picture like the sun gettig brighter (their will be a key near by that is the sun halg full or something like)

so you press the fn key plus the screen brighten key (this is on battery power)

The brighten key may also be on the cursor keys
