You probably don't have the right type of drive that'll read those formats. You need to go out and separately buy that drive that is DVD and CD-ROM readable and/or rewritable.

Doesn't sound like a problem with your computer, sounds like something is wrong with the CD/DVD drive. Try the following.

    1. Restart your computer and try again (sometimes this works, oddly enough)

    2. Update your drivers, if you need help with that, use this link
    http://www.worldstart.com/tips/shared/updatingdrivers.htm

Find your drive and update it.

    3. Update the Firmware, this might also be the problem

If none of these work, you've probably got a faulty drive. If another comp is available try swapping it on that one and see if the same problem occurs. That way you can narrow it down to whether its the computer, or the actual CD drive that's the source of the problem. Hope this helps!

maybe ur puting it into the wrong drive???
r u using the DVD drive to play dvds or is it the disk drive?
if its the disk drive its the wrong one, switch it to the other drive. if u don't have a DVD drive u can buy an external dvd drive which has a lead which plugs into the usb bit.

    hope i helped
