Can someone recommend a good DVD to PSP or MP4 ripper?

I've bought two programs and downloaded 4 or 5 others, but I can't find an easy to use program to convert my DVD's to MP4's that worth a crap. Either it can't decode certain DVD's or or it takes forever to decode the DVD and won't allow you to break a DVD into episodes. I'm a little leery of buying another program since I've already been burned twice, so I'd rather find a decent "free" one. Does anyone have any suggestions?
