I dont think you can install 3 rd party apps without jailbreak.Unlocking means the user can switch between network carriers.There are only few unlock services who offer unlock without the jailbreak for an iPhone model.I too availed my unlock from such a third party unlock, Simpleunlocking.com and permanently unlocked my phone through their remote unlock service. With their free unlock instructions I was able to unlock the phone very easily.
