Should I get an iPhone 3G? (I live in Canada)?

I figured that if I go with Rogers, I'll be paying 0 a month for 6.4GBs of internet usage (it isn't unlimited but I think I won't be using that much on an iPhone anyways). The pricing includes the original package, the for an extra 6GB and of course the system access fee. What I really like about the 3G is the GPS and the fact that i can surf the internet anywhere anytime. What I don't like is the 0 monthly fee. I was considering an alternative also, the iPod Touch. With this, there is no monthly fee and I can still surf the internet using wifi, and V2 comes with the new apps too. I'm completely dumbfounded as to what to do and any advice would be appreciated.
