Telstra Hiptop 3 -- can i unlock it or something and use it with a yes optus card?

I have a yes optus sim card, and i pay a bill every month for it.
does this mean i can't use it on a Hiptop i wanted to buy on ebay which said
Network lock: Te;stra Communic8
??

Do i need to take it to a telstra shop and unlock it?
i dont want an unlocking code from the net.

and if i could unlock it at a shop, would it take my optus card?
How much would this cost?
I live in N.S.W, dont know if that makes a difference..

Hiptops/Sidekicks CANNOT be unlocked, and no carrier will do it for you. At least that's what I've been told from people who live overseas. Here in the U.S., they're locked to the carrier, so I'm guessing that yours is, too. Sorry, I don't think you can use the Hiptop at all unless you're on the network it's meant for.

Hiptop's can be unlocked but not in stores. most sidekicks are from america and they have a completely different system to ours in Aus, Europe and Asia. you'll just have to ind a reliable site and buy it, they only really need to cost between $5 and $10.

You CAN unlock the Hiptop as I have done so about two weeks ago in Sydney's "Fonefix" bondi junction. Just google it and the website will come up, if you dont live in the area you can send your phone to them and get it unlocked for around and they will send it back in about a week and a half. It took them 5 days to do my phone from the day I dropped it off, to the day I picked it up !

does browsing still work on an unlocked hiptop 3?

I really want a hiptop 3 but i dont know if it will work on a optus prepaid.
i cant pay for the telstra because im already on optus.
if i get it unlocked, will it work exactly the same as the telstra plan?
will it work on optus, if i get the phone from iraq?
its a real problem because i LOVE the hiptop3 and i want 2 get it.
