Does an X-box 360 play any region DVDs? (Esp. North Amercian region one ones)?

I'm looking to buy a tv series on dvd for my boyfriend at christmas. Online I can only find it as a region one, north american dvd...mainly he watches his dvds through the xbox 360 but he also has a laptop...would it play through that?
