I use Verizon FiOS and my connection has suddenly slowed down for days now. I did everything I could; rebooted the router, checked for spyware and viruses, changed some things in registry to help speed up connection, tweaked firefox's settings and internet explorer's, defraged, cleaned up the hard drive, changed my WEP key, and even rebooting the computer.

Nothing is working at all. The router i have is an actiontec MI424WR one and its firmware is up to date. When I do a speed test, the results show the speeds that should be running, but every site I go to is slow.

Check your anti virus (it can consume a lot of processor time)
Check for programs that are taking highly utilizing your processor
Check for malware and trojan viruses
Check your firewall configuration
Check the connection speed on your DSL (sometimes it's your ISP causing the problem)

Here a few tips to speed up.
1. Upgrade your Internet Plan
2. Control Bandwidth Usage
3. Free-Up Temporary Directories
4. Optimize your Internet Settings
5. Update Microsoft Silverlight.
