A popping xiphoid process??? Am I alone in this discomfort??

A popping xiphoid process. Or a serious discomfort at the base of my sternum.(I diagnosed myself because at age 13) The "oh-so- great" military doctors said it was nothing. It can definitley be felt, I can definitley hear it...Its is uncomfortable and if not popped(like a finger knuckle) sorta painful. I think it happens more at night, too!!( sometimes I can't even lay down) Sometimes I feel out of breath because of it.
What the heck is it?? Does anybody else have this issue???

it is waaay worse now that I am pregnant.

    popping xiphoid

Hi, I have had a popping xiphoid process for 15 months now. I have a LOT of chest pain and back pain. I also have shortness of breath and general weakness. I wanted to share this with you because at 15 months and at least 15 trips to emergency rooms and a dozen more to my family doctor not one doctor has diagnosed me with anything yet. They treat the symptoms and pains but no one has looked for the cause yet. It has gotten worse with time and I would be interested in finding out if anyone has found a fix for theirs? Would appreciate any feedback
