What is a DVD Player with HD Upconversion?

Upconversion on a dvd player repixelizes the image from a regular dvd to give it a high def image on a high def capable tv. It will not play high def or bluray dvd's. I bought a philips with upconvert about 4 months ago. It works awsome and I would highly recommend it to anyone.
