I am wanting to listen to online radio stations w/o having to buy a new cell phone or something. Is there a portable mp3 device that can access the net for this?

Yeah, an iPod Touch has internet access, but you have to be in WiFi. You can't listen to internet radio through the browser but if you jailbreak you iPod Touch you can download a third party app called iRadio.
