    Can you buy a mobile phone in the UK and use it abroad on one of their networks?

    I have so many spare UK phones and im travelling to canada i was wondering can i do something to the phone so I can put a Canadian sim card in it?

    if the mobile is on a network+a canadian sim is on the same network, then im pretty sure itl work--my friend did it in turkey.

    I think you can but I think your phone has to be triband like the US otherwise it won't work as is on a different wavelength usually they automatically connect to the local network but can be costly sometimes easier just to go into a local shop in CA

    Hi,

    Make sure that your Nokia is unlocked to use all GSM networks. If your Nokia is unlocked one, you can use local sim cards in canada otherwise you can't . If your Nokia is locked to your current carrier, you need to unlock it from them or from any of the online vendors like WickedUnlock.com who provides unlock code to unlock phones . After unlocking your Nokia, you can use it with any other
    GSM carriers internationally .
