There is signal of wifi when i go to Macdonalds or Starbuck but i jus can't get thru internet. Do i need anything?

They usually restrict to devices, like mcdonalds is only nintendo ds, starbuck may be iphone only, or they may restrict which sites your allowed to visit like when I visit barnesandnobles I can only go to bn.com, everything else is blocked.
