Why can't my internet connect?

I have a dell vostro 1400. I recently bought a netgear wireless g-router so i could have wireless internet. I followed all the instructions on the cd. I was able to create a network. However, everytime i try to go on the internet, says connection is taking longer than usual then it says connection unsuccessful. Help?!

i dunno have you tryed uninstalling it and then reinstalling it

I know that you said you followed the instructions, but did you create the network on both computers? Did you set it up as secured or unsecured? If you set it up as secured-- you will need to set the WPA or WEP password on the computer that is picking up the network connection.
