ok well i was watching gossip girl and a commericial said it was the season finale next week, but they just started showing new episodes not to long ago, are they going to start new episodes anytime soon after the season finale??

They only showed a few episodes when they came back after the writer's strike because those were the only episodes ordered for the season.

It's confirmed that season two has 24 (or is it 22?) episodes, and I heard it's coming back sometime in August.

Yes, it's already over! It's because of the writers strike. The CW has signed a second season set to premiere around August-September. The CW said to make up for the few episodes in season 1, season 2 will be 24 EPISODES.
