Lithium Ion Battery?

I was wondering if there was anything that you should do for a Lithium Ion battery if it is just sitting around. like i heard that you could put it in the refrigerator is this true? and if so were do you put it in there? And what is this helping? Is there any other things for Lithium Ion battery's you could do
if you put them in them in the freezer how long and what would that do improve the life? or is that for storage?
And what about the fridge what would that do?
