for windows its .exe, for MAC its .DMG, but what is it for linux? like i said, im a linux n00b....sorry!

Linux executables don't have to have file extensions. You just need to chmod them to be executable, than type them in the console (or at least this was what I did in Redhat 7.2, i'm sure there might be an easier way for modern linux versions)
