    What's wrong with the sentence, "This year's record slaes is expected to

    break the sales quota." How should it be fixed.

    spelled sales wrong and are instead of is and why quotation marks--is this a quote from someone

    the word is should be are

    Change the verb "is" to "are" & correct the spelling.

    It should be:

    "This year's record sales ARE expected to break the sales quota."

    It should be "are" instead of "is", because you are referring to more than one thing.

    First..your spelling of "sales" is wrong.
    Secondly...in the first half of your sentence, you state 'record sales...but then employ "is" which is for a singular noun. As you have written the word "sales" (plural) you must write "are".
    So:
    "This year's record sales are expected to break the sales quota."
