What's wrong with the sentence, "This year's record slaes is expected to

It should be:

"This year's record sales ARE expected to break the sales quota."

It should be "are" instead of "is", because you are referring to more than one thing.

Hope this helps. Bye!!!

First..your spelling of "sales" is wrong.
Secondly...in the first half of your sentence, you state 'record sales...but then employ "is" which is for a singular noun. As you have written the word "sales" (plural) you must write "are".
So:
"This year's record sales are expected to break the sales quota."

"This year's record slaes is expected to break the sales quota."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
sales are...not sales is

this years sales record is expected to break previous sales.
