Bank of Nova Scotia said on Monday that Scott Thomson would take over as chief executive officer of the Canadian bank from Feb. 1, replacing Brian Porter who will retire at the end of January. Thomson will initially serve as president from Dec. 1, overseeing Canadian banking, global banking and markets, global wealth management and international banking at Bank of Nova Scotia. Thomson, who has also been a member of the board of Bank of Nova Scotia since 2016, will be joining from Finning International Inc, where he has was the chief executive for nine years.
