Michael Phelps (L) of the United States leads Chad le Clos of South Africa in the Men’s 200m Butterfly Final. (Getty) For most people, tattoos hold a certain significance to the person who bears them because, you know, it’s on there forever.
It looks like someone is a huge Michael Phelps fan.

Chronic Ink posted a tattoo of the “Phelps Face” meme on the leg of one of its patrons on Snapchat.
You know the one. *In the waiting room before the semifinal of the 200-meter butterfly, South African rival/NBC villain Chad le Clos was seen shadowboxing in front of a very focused Phelps, who looked like he found out that le Clos kicked his dog.
Needless to say, the face became an instant classic on the internet, and it only got more popular after Phelps destroyed le Clos in the final. Now that face lives on a man’s leg forever.
Best part is the dude might not even be American.

Given the notoriety of Crying Jordan, or the more recent Crying Ryan, Phelps being known for a mean face isn’t a bad alternative for the 22-time gold medalist. In fact, being known for one of the most menacing game faces of all time might outlive his greatness as a swimmer, much like Jordan is primarily known in some circles for the meme and not his basketball prowess.
But hopefully that won’t be the case for Phelps, who’d rank 39th in the gold medal count if he were his own country, one behind host country Brazil.
In either case, Phelps is assured of something: he will be remembered forever somewhere.
